It was long after I fell in love with makeup that I realized it really doesn’t make a difference if you use high-end or drugstore brushes, it only matters on the quality of the product. I used to use Bobbi Brown brushes through and through, until I found Real Techniques.
Real Techniques brushes were created by makeup guru’s Sam and Nic Chapman, who run their own YouTube channel, which I watch religiously. These women are so inspirational, and as soon as I started watching their YouTube channel, I immediately went out and bought their brushes.
They have a wide range of products available, and are sold in Canada too! I know that they can be found at Rexall Drug Stores in Canada, and at Ulta in the US. They are extremely affordable, and can either come in sets or singles.
I own a variety of brushes, but my most favourite ones are the Powder Brush, the Blush Brush the Contour Brush and the Buffing Brush, however, they are all pretty amazing. All of the Real Techniques brushes are multi-use, the girls even use their brushes on their channel for many different purposes, and show you how to use them to on their Real Techniques YouTube channel.
Most of their brushes are duo-fibre, which means that the brushes pick up the product on their longer “hairs” and as you buff the brush on your skin, the shorter “hairs” buff the product in for a flawless finish. The brushes don’t shed, and can easily be washed. I am desperate to get my hands on their sponges, as well as their new Berlin design collection!
A tip for washing your brushes: wash them with baby shampoo and to dry them upside down to ensure that water does not run down the handle of the brush, which in turn loosens the glue holding the “hairs” together and to the handle.
Do you use any Real Techniques brushes? If you do, let me know in the comments below!
