Going hand in hand with bronzers, next comes contour products! I don’t use these every time I do my makeup, especially when I am running day-to-day errands or going to work, but when I got to an event or a night out, you will bet I reach for one of these! Here are my top five contouring products of 2016!
The NYX Highlight and Contour Palette is super versatile. It offers a wide variety of products that you can use for contouring, highlighting and even setting your makeup. I use the bronze shades for contouring and bronzing, and will sometimes reach for the highlight. All of the bronze colours are great for contouring on any type of skin tone. The best colour for contouring, I find on my skin colour, is the one second in from the right. It has the perfect cool tone, ashy tone to it to create a shadow. This product retails for $27.00 CA and can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart or NYX stores.
Another fantastic NYX product I use for contouring is actually the NYX High Definition Blush. My friend who is a makeup artist told me that she uses it on her clients all the time, so when I was at a NYX event, I was lucky enough to pick it up. It did crack on me, so I had to purchase a new one, but I really like it for contouring. It is more ashy in tone than any of those in the contour kit. It is also supposed to be a blush, but I have never used it as a blush. It is great for eye shadow as well to put in the crease for a quick look! It retails for $8.00 CA and can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart and NYX Stores.
This ABH product is newer to my collection. I purchased it in the Sephora VIB sale recently and am so happy I did! I was hearing great reviews about the foundation itself for regular coverage, but good reviews as well for using the stick to contour. There is the shade, Shadow, that I purchased. It has an ashy undertone that is perfect for contouring. It is not orangey, which is great because you don’t really want that for a contour product. The formula is great, very creamy and blends very well. I have to use a bit firmer of a hand when I blend it out, but that is because the pigment is strong. I highly recommend this product! It retails for $33.00 CA and can be found at Sephora or Sephora.ca.
I have been using the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow for a while now, almost a year, actually, and I have barely made a dent in it! Not because I barley use it, but because the product just seems like it is never-ending. Although it is on the pricier side, I do think it is a great luxury item to have in your collection. The bronze shade is great for contouring and even bronzing. The compact also comes with a highlight shade that is a fabulous golden colour. It is a fabulous glow that is super subtle and makes you look as though you are glowing from within! It retails for $80.00 CA and can be purchased at Holt Renfrew.
The final product that I have been using for contouring is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade Cafe. Although this product is meant for concealing, I find that it is pigmented enough to use as a cream contour. It leaves a subtle bronze to the skin as well as a shadow under the cheek bones. Even though it has a more orange undertone, I find that I like it for when I am more tanned, as it gives me a more natural looking contour rather than a sculpted out look. It is super affordable and can be purchased at almost every drug store! It retails for $7.79 CA and can be purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall.
Those are my favourite contour products for 2016! Let me know in the comments below which contour products you enjoy using the most! I am on the look out for an affordable powder outside of the NYX universe!
