The Best of 2016 – Skin Care

Skin care is a staple in my every day routine.

I never fail to cleanse my skin at night with either a cleanser foam, cream or balm, follow with a moisturizer and then an eye cream. In the morning, I rinse my face with warm water and follow with a moisturizer.

However, there are moments I treat my skin to a little something extra. From detox masks, to glow masks, to pore strips to peels, there is always a way to give your skin the extra boost it needs sometimes, with that said, here are my top skin care products of 2016.

I use the Burt’s Bees Deep Cleansing Cream* to take off and break down all of my makeup. I wet my face, put some into my hand and lather all over my face and eyes. It helps remove your makeup, even mascara. On days where I am in a rush to remove makeup or not at home, I use the Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes*. They help remove any stubborn makeup on the face and eyes, and don’t leave a mess on your white towels when drying after cleansing (we’ve all been there…)!

When I want to pamper my skin in the shower, or on a weekly basis, I use the Burt’s Bees Deep Pore Scrub*. It gently, but throughly, scrubs excess dirt and dead skin off, leaving you with baby smooth skin. The pack, including a delicious smelling lip balm, retails for $22.99 CAD and can be found in Shoppers Drug Mart. A perfect gift for a skin care junkie.

The second and maybe one of my most favourite scrubs/cleanser of all time is the My Chelle Refining Sugar Cleanser*. It it a fabulous mixture of both an exfoliator and a facial cleanser. It starts out as a scrub with crystals, that help remove dirt and dead skin, then after about 10 – 15 seconds, it becomes a foaming cleanser. It is an all natural cleanser that leaves your skin feeling more smooth than you ever thought imaginable. It retails for $32.00 CAD and can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart.

I have mentioned the Origins mask before here on my blog, but I can’t seem to get enough of it! The Origins Clear Improvement Mask helps detoxify your skin, unclog pores, and remove blackheads.  It does at first sting/kick when you put it on, as it is levelling out your skins PH levels, but it is nothing to be concerned about! It goes away quickly.

The second product, the GLAMGLOW Flashmud Brightening Treatment, is a fantastic beaded pre-exfoliator. I received this in my gift bag from Gen Beauty earlier this year and I love it! It really does bring a youthful and radiant glow out on your skin.

The Origins Clear Improvement mask comes in two different sizes, the 1.7 oz retails for $20.00 CAD (the one shown) or the larger, 3.4 oz retails for $32.00 CAD. The GLAMGLOW pre-exfoliator retails for $24.00 CAD for 0.5 oz or $79.00 CAD for 1.7 oz. They both can be purchased at Sephora.

Throwing in a little something in for the men out there – the Jack Black skin care line. I personally use their lip balm because they smell great and are super moisturizing, but I got my boyfriend to try the Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser* ($39.00 CAD). He suffers from super oily skin late in the day, but dry skin right after he showers. This cleanser has controlled his oil substantially, but has kept his skin moisturized at the same time. He follows with the Double-Duty Face Moisturizer with SPF 20 ($33.00 CAD) to maintain smooth and balanced skin all day long.

I also got a friend to try the Beard Lube Conditioning Save* ($22.00 CAD). He shaves his face every single day, and he is raving about how awesome and smooth the beard lube makes his skin feel and look. He also follows with the Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer* ($39.00) and is absolutely obsessed. The Jack Black line is fabulous for all male skin types, and would be a perfect gift “for him” this holiday season! All of the products can be found in Sephora stores or online.

My last two favourite skin care products for 2016 are from The Face Shop. The Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam* is a great product.  I find that it is a mix between a cleanser and a balm. I use it to wash my face when I am in the shower,  as it gives you an extremely deep-clean look and feel. After using it, my skin feels to incredibly clean and fresh. It Is also a fantastic price, it retails for $13.00 CAD and can be found at Face Shop stores or online.

The last product I want to share with you is the JeJu Volcanic Lava 3-Step Blackhead Remover Nose Strip*. It is a three-step process that removes all those tiny, and large, unwanted pores and blackheads on your nose. I can honestly say this is hands down the best nose strip I have ever used. The first step is to open the pores, the second is the volcanic strip that removes blackheads, and the final step is to tighten the pores to block out bacteria. I unfortunately did not take a photo of the packaging before I opened it, but below is what the packaging looks like. It retails for $2.00 CAD (yes, $2.00), and can be found at The Face Shop stores or online.
